I HUGELY recommend joining the community that fits in with your season right now.

There’s something about having people in your corner, just lifting you up when life feels hard, and being able to fully be yourself no matter what you’re feeling.

* I’ve already opened up the first one for families - (Familyā™”Neurospicy StylešŸ¤™šŸ¼) on Skool

It’s easier to type in ā€˜Lisa Parr’ to find it*

The next is purely for teens.

The next is for more intense therapy.

The next is for anyone who isn’t struggling with their mental health but wants to stay on top of it and connect with others.

BUT, if you don’t think a community is for you right now, you can download all the resources separately through this website, just head to ā€œAll PDF resourcesā€.

I have a real love-hate relationship with social media! I’ve put in a load of boundaries in for myself so I can share, chat and catch up without getting stuck scrolling!

So for daily chats and a space to do life together more we share real family life on Instagram @parrchat

I’ve linked a Facebook page @SkylarkHopeAndJoy to my instagram

I’ve just started regularly sharing the same videos to TikTok @parrlife

Most longer form videos I’ll add to YouTube @SkylarkHopeAndJoy, these will usually be daily life updates

Faith in a Broken Mind

I have always LOVED to laugh.

I naturally saw the funny side in any situation and would just laugh through whatever I had going on.

*For context, I told Tyler to look happy to have a photo taken with me! šŸ˜†

About a year ago, I realised that those bubbles that lived inside me and created the laughter had disappeared.

I’m writing a short book, and will continue to write little blog posts so you can read more in other parts of this website, but starting Skylark Hope & Joy now (instead of when I’m feeling amazing!) is because I wanted to create something real. I wanted to walk back to laughing through my days with anyone else who wants to walk that path.

There is so much beauty in the everyday that’s easy to miss, having had migraines that have physically stopped me working and stopped me being able to rush through my days has meant I’ve been given the chance to embrace the beauty in the mess of everyday life again.

This website and the YouTube channel we’ll start to just capture little videos will highlight the beauty & the mess and hopefully help you spot the beauty in your mess too! 🌦

2 of our crazy trio: Coco (age 2 - loves a cuddle, will nudge her way fully under a duvet to hide and sleep & adores sunbathing)

Romeo (age 1 - is absolutely crackers, loves to take an opportunity to shoot out the door and run away for 5 mins then come home like nothing happened, is made of pure muscle and loves to surprise jump on you in bed - occasionally including a headbutt as he jumps!)

Your Safe Space

I want this tiny part of the internet to be a safe space; a place to hide while you take a breather, rest, recover and be restored.

*For reference and realness - this picture was taken after I made the kids come to the beach in the wind and rain because all they were doing was arguing at home! They actually worked as a team to build protection from the wind (they didn’t build the table, that was randomly there!!) and ended up not wanting to leave!!

You are wanted, accepted, loved in your brokenness…

God to Moses & Joshua (at different times): ā€œTake off your shoes, for where you are standing is Holy ground.ā€

Jesus to the people around him (*people like you, and me): ā€œAre you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me.ā€

Take off your shoes… the layers of protection you put on to walk this earth. The defensiveness you wear to protect against more hurt… The fake smile to hide your sadness… The busyness to hide your loneliness… The ā€œgoodā€ and ā€œkindā€ things you do to make you feel ā€˜something’…

And lay them down at Jesus’ feet.

Rest, walk, learn and live with Jesus… I promise, there is NOTHING else like it.

For us as a family, some of the things we’ve walked through so far are: mental illness, grief and heartbreak, trying to remain married (reoccurring topic šŸ™ƒ), miscarriage, parenting 4 Neurodivergent kids (they’re now 7, 9, 10 & 12), school (which lead to A LOT of brokenness in us) and then home educating, finding grace for our own Neurodivergent traits, starting a business, the business crashing, and the latest - buying a house and then I became too unwell with daily migraines to work!

Although this website is written by me (Lisa) and some of the thoughts and knowledge have come from mental health nursing; a lot of what is in here is just us as a family and the books, podcasts, talks, practices and music that have brought light and life into our lives.

It’s nuggets of wisdom the kids have taught me.

It’s how me and Matt have found ways through even when it hurts and is hard.

We are all about being real and all the messy goodness that comes with that. We’ve got a lot of quirkiness in this family and I’m here to embrace it and not let the darker side of this earth dampen that any longer.

HEADS UP! Laughter has always been the best medicine for me and my family, so any videos that we might post on Instagram or YouTube in the future will likely have laughing at what you might feel is at inappropriate times!!

Anyway, I’ve got LOADS of info to add to this website that I’ll just do throughout the days (but I’m not rushing, I’ve learned my lesson!) so hopefully you’ll find something that helps and decide you want to walk along with me.

The River

The River is packed with songs, books, podcasts and thoughts on different topics (shame/distraction/joy/techniques for living healthier etc.) that’s all for free with loads more being added each week.

Skylark Sanctuary

Skylark Sanctuary is my quiet place of the internet where I write everything down to find truth and freedom in my messy head.

I will always strive to provide free access for anything I do because I don’t think finances should be a barrier to accessing help. But, after having that total nervous system crash in July 2024, using up all our savings not being able to work, and then applying for benefits to help cover our outgoings while I try and get back to working… I created Skylark Sanctuary as a personal blog with a Ā£5/month membership fee. So, everything I want to share is free, but to thank those (my mum) offering to help financially, I’ve created something where I can share more of the thoughts in my head… not sure how much of a good idea that is!!

Thank you to anyone feeling they want to support us as a family, and I apologise for what will be over-sharing!!

Books

Dad and I have written books - mine is a Part 1! To know more, click on the books link below.

Me & the kids used to LOVE a road trip, home educating brings so much freedom… but not working has limited the freedom to mainly walking distance of home šŸ˜†šŸ™ƒ (please feel free to join my prayer for more future road trips! šŸ™šŸ¼)
