Inspiring Resources
One of the healthiest things you can do for your child right now is to listen to them - but it can be easier said than done!
This could be:
* setting a regular time with NO distractions and nothing else taking priority (except an emergency, obviously!)
* asking your child to write down how they’re thinking or feeling.
* making a worry jar for your child to write down their worries during the day and then reading them together.
* buying/making a journal for them to write everything down.
Ultimately, what you think they might be thinking/feeling/worrying about, and what they actually are thinking/feeling/worrying about can often be completely different things!
It’s also just as important that you make the time to recognise your own feelings and fears and give yourself what you need to work through those. The Think HEALTH Curriculum listed below might help with this.
For specific support - the websites listed below are a brilliant place to start:
YOUNG MINDS
YoungMinds have resources for if you’re worried about your child or young person’s mental health.
MERMAIDS
Mermaids ‘helps gender-diverse kids, young people and their families’. Their information for parents including practical ways to support your child, legal information and knowledge on different topics, can be found by clicking the link below.
MIND
Mind are another brilliant charity who offer a wide range of resources. The link below takes you to where they share tips and support for parenting with a ‘mental health problem’.

confidential support
(Currently only for Berrynarbor Primary, Combe Martin Primary & Ilfracombe Academy as the service is funded by 2 of their local churches)
For any confidential (and anonymous if you wish) support - click the link below and leave an email address for me to reply to if you’d like a reply.
This service is for you to chat about your own mental health, ideas for your child’s school, how to support someone else - anything on your mind.
You can send how you’re thinking/feeling without wanting a reply as a way of getting thoughts out of your head if you wish.

THINK HEALTH CURRICULUM
Think HEALTH Curriculum is super short videos over the course of a year that look into all areas of your life - for ALL AGES! I’d love these videos to be watched in schools, in homes, on the top of mountains! Everywhere! Each video should give you something to think about and focus on to break unhealthy habits and give clarity for your own health as well as being able to offer that clarity and wisdom to your children.
I created and follow this course with my children (aged 3, 5, 6 & 8) - we sit and chat at the same time each day but it’s rare that all 4 of them will think about the same topic, they’ll flick through their journal and think about what interests them so please go with the flow - do what works for yourself and your family.
There are 2 playlists - a 0-17years and an 18+ but these ages are a guide, please follow whichever fits right for you/your family.

Your life…
CELEBRATION DAYS!
Remember, especially on days like BIRTHDAYS, FATHER’S DAY, MOTHER’S DAY, ANNIVERSARIES… to do things YOUR way. No matter what that is. No matter what anyone else is doing. No matter what anyone else thinks you should do.
Only YOU know your life, so live it allowing yourself to feel all the emotions and then do what is right for you.
